Producers face two challenges when attempting to increase fiber content using existing types:  low digestive tolerance for consumers and technological difficulties for industrial processes, especially regarding stability and taste.

Roquette has brought an innovative solution to these formulation challenges with its new-generation NUTRIOSE® natural soluble fiber.

 

Formulation advantages

  • High solubility and low viscosity
    NUTRIOSE® is totally soluble and this makes it possible to avoid residues. There is no limit on its use in clinical nutrition.
    Moreover, it develops low viscosity in solution, which is essential for this application.
  • An exceptional stability
    Solutions for clinical use are often sterilized to ensure the required bacteriological characteristics. All ingredients must therefore be able to withstand the associated heat treatment without either degrading or developing color.

    NUTRIOSE® has been proven to withstand extreme conditions. Products containing NUTRIOSE® are unaffected by pH, heat, or time: fiber content remains unchanged, even after heat treatment or after 3 months' storage at room temperature in acidic conditions.

  • A low  osmolarity
    NUTRIOSE® does not develop a high osmolarity. Therefore it does not contribute to the intestinal osmotic pressure changes that result in diarrhoea.
  • A well-tolerated fiber
    NUTRIOSE®FB 06 or NUTRIOSE® FM 06 contain about 85% soluble fiber as dry substance. (AOAC 2001-03)

    The various products in the NUTRIOSE® range offer exceptional digestive tolerance that has been clinically proven both in short- and long-term carried out at the TNO Netherlands using NUTRIOSE® FB 06.

 

  • Low glycaemic and insulinaemic responses
    The calculated glycaemic response is 25% and the insulinaemic response 13%, allowing for interesting formulation opportunities.
