The 4th International Congress on Prediabetes and Metabolic Syndrom
Roquette will present a new poster on the metabolic effects of NUTRIOSE®, a prebiotic soluble fiber, at the 4th congress on Prediabetes and Metabolic Syndrom, taking place early April (6-9) in Madrid (Spain).

Prediabetes and the Metabolic Syndrome are highly prevalent conditions, affecting between one in six and one in three adults in most developed countries, and a similar proportion in the urban areas of many developing countries. Overweight, obesity and their consequent metabolic troubles are actually still continuing to impact the health of billions people worldwide. More than ever, in a particularly complex regulatory context, ingredients of nutritional interest have a key role to play. That is why Roquette continues to develop research on the physiological impact of its ranges of products, such as NUTRIOSE®, a soluble resistant dextrin with prebiotic properties.
Roquette will present a new poster on the metabolic effects of NUTRIOSE®, a prebiotic soluble fiber, at the 4th congress on Prediabetes and Metabolic Syndrom, taking place early April (6-9) in Madrid (Spain).
The results obtained after 12 weeks of supplementation of the daily diets of 120 healthy overweight volunteers with NUTRIOSE® will be presented at this congress. More specifically, its impact on the metabolic parameters1 during this study will be described and presented on Thursday poster’s session, in the track “Metabolic Syndrom: Various aspects”.
It will highlight the improvement of all markers of glucose metabolism in the NUTRIOSE® group, with increases in adiponectin and reductions in glucose, insulin, homeostasis model assessment-estimated insulin resistance, glycosylated hemoglobin, and glycated albumin (all p < 0.01). Similarly, all lipid measures improved and most components of glucose metabolism and the lipid profile were significantly improved in the NUTRIOSE® group as compared to the control one.
Supplementation with NUTRIOSE® for 12 weeks is well tolerated, lowers insulin resistance, and improves determinants of metabolic syndrome in overweight men. Moreover it is outstandingly tolerated and reduces in parallel daily calories consumption, while inducing greater reductions in body weight, BMI, body fat percentage, and waist circumference in NUTRIOSE® supplemented subjects².
Major clinical trials performed in recent years have shown that diabetes can be also prevented by intensive lifestyle changes, among which changes in dietary habits has a key role to play. Using ingredients with nutritional interest can be a useful tool in such a context, in addition to physical exercise. That is why NUTRIOSE® brings solutions in the context of metabolic syndrome.
